Re: ZXR 0.1c (updated)

Few other notes about profling: * If code does tricks where it modifies subroutine return address directly from stack, to get RTS/RTE to return somewhere else than to the caller, that confuses call hierarchy tracking. E.g. EmuTOS uses this (and Hatari profiler special-cases that), but I don't know h...

Re: ZXR 0.1c (updated)

Btw. Have you looked at the callgraphs yet? Yeah! Finally. I've been a bit too busy with other stuff. I'm not suprised how it looks though :) A CPU emulator is bound to generate an extremely yucky callgraph, but then again there are some nice clues in there. I'll definitely start using these tools ...

Re: R0X ZER0

If you're interested, Hatari profiler would easily tell where the time goes. Just invoke Hatari debugger in credits screen, do "profile on" and "continue". After a while invoke debugger again and "profile save profile.txt", and you can see from the "profile.txt&quo...

Re: BeePi 1.0

That the floppy actually activates when the emulated atari accesses it and not just for one long time at startup and shutdown. I see, one wants to eject floppy and go, but the "damn thing" is just starting to write it, and real floppies are real slow... I guess I've dealt "too" ...

Re: Preview of Manic Miner for the ST

I've never tried the this game in its earlier incarnations. I like the music selections. The first level is nasty in a *nice* way. Every time one thinks that rest of the level is easy-peacy, the game shows you who's the boss, until one has completed it once. :-) I looked at Speccy gfx in Youtube vid...

Re: R0X ZER0

At beginning it's hard at normal level, once one gets some bonuses, it gets easier.

For some reason the Credits screen overscan doesn't work properly with EmuTOS, only with real STE TOS. Could some interrupt handler in EmuTOS be slower?

Re: HAtari 2.1.0, Falcon emulation and DSP and screenpointer update

I'm not familiar with falcon settings, would need to look at the sources, but isn't horizontal resolution supposed to be a multiple of 16 in falcon video, so 600 is not OK ? 800 is horizontal size, 600 is vertical size. But this was only curiosity, as I don't have "Use extended VDI scre...

Re: EPSS and Hatari

Hello i´m trying to setup the EPSS synth with the Hatari (v2.1.0) emulator, EPSS works in standalone mode but when i launch it with cubase and try to play a midi file the screen blinks black and white and i don´t have any sound, i test cubase 2.01 & 3.1 and diferent Tos images from STE to Falco...

Tested few 48k TAP files from World of Spectrum with Hatari TT/EmuTOS combo.

While others worked fine, Cybernoid came up just with a black screen: http://www.worldofspectrum.org/infoseek ... id=0001196

Re: BeePi 1.0

with your command given above i get this: $ hatari --log-level debug /dev/sdb ARG = floppy image: /dev/sdb ... And the floppy actually does something. When i startup hatari this way the floppy spins for a few seconds. But TOS claims that no floppy disk is inserted. If I instead cp /dev/sdb nase.st;...

Re: BeePi 1.0

Hatari has some problems with audio (RPi 3B @1300, RPi3B+@1400, audio on jack) - it is sometimes distorted as if the emulator wasn't fast enough. Old demos - Readme.prg, LSD.PRG have this behavior (started as ST with TOS 1.4). The STE demos using DMA audio seem to have no audio problems. Sometimes ...

Re: BeePi 1.0

I can even create a folder. But it's newer written back .... Edit: it is written back once i close hatari. Also it seems that hatari reads the entire disk at startup and then newer accesses it again. So this doesn't give any retro feeling .... You don't need to close Hatari. Just eject the disk (im...

Re: FX CAST TOS versions

Having said that ... I don't understand why you think that it will be common to create hard disk files on Windows. MiSTer cores normally use hard disk file images (what we call ACSI hard disks under emulation). They don't access partitions directly on the SD card. So normally the only way you will ...

Re: FX CAST TOS versions

TOS v1.00 is quite buggy, it cannot e.g. deal reliably with hard disks / hard disk images. I think that is a bit of an overstatement. Yes, it has some bugs. But back at the day, I used TOS 1.0 wit a hard disk for several years without any problems. I had no other choice then. Granted, it was a very...

I do have a NEC UF0002 USB floppy drive which is one of the few that can read TOS formatted 720k disks. And while i can access itunder /dev/sdb as a regular user from userland hatari simply ignores it if i try to configure it. Thanks for testing! Do you see any error messages from Hatari in the ter...

Re: Other emu's with RS232 emulation?

I would have thought that you can give Hatari directly the Linux serial device file, but that of course assumes that you've made sure that your Linux and Atari side serial settings match (speed, bits etc). also worth mentioning, that RS232 emulation doesn't work on Windows AT ALL because of its use ...

FYI: MMU and SCSI should work OK in Hatari Mercurial version.

These should fix MiNT with memory protection, and HD driver taking ages at bootup (even when one has just IDE drive).

Re: HAtari 2.1.0, Falcon emulation and DSP and screenpointer update

If you do proper synchronization for CPU<->DSP data transfers, the code is much more likely to work also on accelerated machines where CPU<->DSP speed ratio might differ. Btw. When writing BadMood code, Douglas had some ifdefs for these transfers, so that he could disable some of the synchronization...

Re: BeePi 1.0

The problem with automount is that if same disk content is being modified both as raw device (by emulator), and as mounted file system (by host OS), corruption is sure to happen. Only single thing should mount the same device at the time (whether it's Hatari or Linux). You would need some mount rule...

Re: FX CAST Atari ST core

So to recap. There is an issue of TOS version cross compatibility. But as a general rule, the older the TOS version the more compatible it is. This is for obvious reasons. Older software couldn't be tested with newer TOS versions. But newer software was usually tested with all the TOS versions avai...

Re: EPSS and Hatari

Found Cubase Lite. It ships with too old MROS version, but you can get latest MROS driver (MROS3_45) from the mros0296.zip package. To get things working, put MROS3_45 to Cubase MROS/ folder along with EPSS.DRV, and EPSS.PRG to drive root as EPSS.ACC. Then just: * start Cubase Lite * from the EPSS A...

Re: BeePi 1.0

If USB floppies are intended to be used with Hatari, one doesn't want to enable any kind of auto-mounting for them, only enable support for having the USB floppy device file present. User may also need to be in some specific group so that Hatari can access such device.

Re: Hatari 2.1.0 has been released

I use openbox without any desktop. It’s a minimal install and Hatari is started from the autostart script via startx. This issue happens also when you change resolution in Falcon mode with Videl inside. If the new resolution is smaller or has a different aspect ratio, borders are not redrawn or fil...

Re: EPSS and Hatari

EPSS v1.0.1 (from dhs.nu) runs OK from GEMDOS HD with latest TOS v3 & EmuTOS. With TOS v1.x & v2.x one needs a floppy image (or hard driver + hard disk image), as EPSS with those TOS versions for some reason doesn't get boot driver right with GEMDOS HD. EPSS (or its GEM GUI?) crashes at rand...
