Re: Bad Mood : Falcon030 'Doom'

There doesn't seem to be standalone CT60 TOS version. Is there some easy way to extract it from ct60tos.bin file, so that I can try using it?

Re: Bad Mood : Falcon030 'Doom'

BTW I wanted to ask you about Hatari symbol loading direct from the Atari binary - as it has trouble with the new binaries - I can't use the NM route anymore because the symbols direct from ELF have different offsets from those in the final TTP. So it would be good to figure out if its a problem wi...

Re: Bad Mood : Falcon030 'Doom'

I tested the latest version from here with latest Hatari: http://www.leonik.net/dml/sec_bm.py Some observations: * Normal Falcon version (bm030 & bm030s) starts now with Mercurial version of Hatari when MMU is enabled, but screen isn't updated properly * Strict DSP sync version (bm030a), gets in...

Re: Bad Mood : Falcon030 'Doom'

The 060 build hasn't been properly tested so it is flaky - I can't really do much with it until I set up my own and I don't have time for it yet. I will get around to it at some point though. I can probably rebuild the 060 version to fix the flickery HUD but the crashes won't be resolved without de...

In 50Hz Spectrum512 looks like that duo to palette change timings, you need 60Hz for it to work correctly.

Here's C-code for a game I did, that uses double buffering:

(There's also a bit of assembly for input handling.)

Re: Hard 'n' Heavy improved, final update

Hatari 2.0 had a bug in 68030 instruction cache emulation when using prefetch/CE mode. It would be better to test latest Hatari snapshot. Or with 2.0, try whether disabling cycle-exact / prefetch mode helps.

Re: Bad Mood : Falcon030 'Doom'

Doug's software synthesis / mixing / sound prioritization stuff is really nice. For such a low CPU usage it's surprisingly close to what full MIDI synthesizer like FluidSynth on Linux produces. And FluidSynth uses more CPU on my few GHz PC Linux, than I've understood Doug's code to take with BadMood...

Re: Corrupt Newdesk.inf help

Im sure I can sort it out ok, but would rather have as much info on the subject as possible, as blindly ripping parts out caused crashed desktops with bombs. In general you're not supposed to edit INF files directly. :-) The white space at the end of (some of) the lines in the INF file is significa...

Now if only I can figure out how to remove the oversize 800x600 VDI/AES setting from my older saved newdesk.inf I wont have to scrap it and lose my cecile HDD partitions info. Perhaps theres some sort of document covering the desktop inf data? Perhaps I should also mention its for a Falcon! :) This...

I'll recommend using Hatari Mercurial snapshot for the emulator.

Re: Lucasarts games with midi music.

ScummVm definitely won't work on standard ST. When I tried the Atari version in Hatari, it needed FPU and 256MB(!) of TT-RAM to work with few of my LucasArts games. ST native Sierra games do have MIDI (I've tried with Hatari + QSynth on Linux). For more comprehensive list with few surprises, see: ht...

I guess this is meant only for commercial games, not free/hobby ones.

Ones that were bought and which greatly disappointed compared to one's expectations, so much that one still vividly remembers them?

Would be good if someone could test it on TT.

Does it already work with Hatari's TT emulation, so that only testing on real HW is needed?

-> If something doesn't work on real HW, but works on Hatari, that should be reported to Hatari devs, so that it can be fixed.

Re: VOXX-Falcon Vocoder Fullversion?

Axxim, do you have any idea why the freeware version would freeze in Hatari right after it starts up? On DSP side it runs few DSP instructions (including DSP RESET), and on CPU side it doesn't run any instructions.

The above linked Voxx demo version doesn't freeze.

Re: monitor/CRT emulation

Good CRT emulation requires emulating multiple things: * aspect ratio * color bleeding between pixels * gradual pixel color change between frames None of the Hatari developers is looking into these, but you could make a try at them and post patches for consideration to hatari-devel. Note that doing ...

Re: gcc 7.1 for the ST series

Static linking doesn't work for Glibc. It loads several parts of itself dynamically, I think at least related to name resolution, localization and crypto. But GCC is anyway pretty self-contained, and anything it depends on, should be well library API/version controlled etc. I.e. it should be fine as...

In general you shouldn't have EmuTOS related problems with games under Aranym. The main remaining issues with EmuTOS and games are... Bugs in games that EmuTOS can do nothing about: ⋅  Dirty, floppy-only, TOS-version specific games that happen to work just by pure luck on real TOS (not to ...

Few years ago, while testing Hatari's MIDI compatibility, I went through programs available at Tim's world. Midi Mouse was one of the nicer programs. One can produce pretty OK music easily with it without having any particular experience in producing music. I definitely recommend checking it out.

Re: MiST wiki EmuTOS image version update?

While ancient EmuTOS versions were much slower than real TOS at booting, nowadays EmuTOS boots up clearly faster than the real TOS version.

EmuTOS has recently acquired several TOS v2 desktop features. There's also a branch where desktop rendering is accelerated with Blitter.
