Re: What can I actually do with this thing?

If it can do all that stuff then tell the programs for it. Can't do it without software.

Re: What can I actually do with this thing?

I'm basically asking what is actually impressive or interesting falcon software? I found ace tracker, I guess. this reads like poor quality trolling. https://i.postimg.cc/g2xHn6qK/IMG-20181023-174624-1.jpg I asked a simple question, what can I do with my falcon. I understand now why you're defensiv...

Re: Help getting my ST out of the attic and hooked up to a modern LCD monitor

Just looked that monitor up, strange that apparently it works at 15Khz but they only list the usual 31Khz+ in the spec sheet

Re: What can I actually do with this thing?

I've already got the vga adapter from exxos shop that can do all the blowup stuff, not bothered to use it because standard 256 colour vga seems slow enough already. Best won't sell anything to me unless it's in QTY 10 or more because they claim international postage is too much effort. I learned tha...

What can I actually do with this thing?

Okay so I've got a falcon here. 14Mb, big compact flash card, and an FPU. What's it for, really? I can't figure out what I should do with it. It's got a crap keyboard, so I'd rather use my Mega for any stuff that involves typing. It doesn't run most ST games, even the supposedly falcon fixed ones, e...

Re: Help getting my ST out of the attic and hooked up to a modern LCD monitor

What you're looking for is a SCART cable from the ST and a good SCART-HDMI converter box. I don't know whats good one of those, maybe forums of TV nerds can tell you.

Re: Faint vertical gray lines in STE/MSTE in high-res - Am I the only one?

Making it digital would've been more expensive. SM series monitors have separate brightness/contrast control for this reason, useless in ST Mono but they were trying to future proof.

Re: Falcon Nova Adapter ...

4MB in MegaSTE with your nova adapter already annoying, hard disk driver, novavdi, gdos, some .acc = 2.4mb left

But in falcon just cruel. All that power and no ram. So an interesting but pointless development.

Re: Paint program that runs in gem/with graphics card

Thanks for suggestions, all. Going to try them all out, see what I like best. Just opened Vision, seems nice, familiar to me from using MS paint - just confused how to zoom out again after zooming in.

Paint program that runs in gem/with graphics card

Got myself a nova setup and want something to put its 256 colours to work. Having trouble finding any paint programs that aren't locked to ST LOW.

Any suggestions?

I wouldn't have bothered recapping the main board without also doing the power supply, to be honest.

Not many engineers on here anymore best try exxos forum

Re: Graphics card for Mega STE

Ah the man himself! I suppose that answers that question. Bigger question now is how such cards interact with NVDI, it gives option to choose them when installing, but is it actually doing any VDI speedup with them, or just falling back to acting as a GDOS?

Re: MegaSTE power LED: Mixup in the PCB layout?

Count yourself lucky, the power LED on mine doesn't even work anymore. But I don't remember it being particularly bright.

At least it's not like STFMs where every time you open one up you find a different patch wire.

Interesting. I assume this works like his usual VME adapter. So would work in a Mega STE?

Re: Graphics card for Mega STE

Oh, so this thread actually did post. It kept throwing up a bunch of errors. I thought it was commonly understood faster, more colours, etc is better. I'm not a musician so don't care about cubase compatibility. My monitor can go up to 800x600, would be pleased with a 16 colour desktop. Mostly inter...

Graphics card for Mega STE

hey all Got myself a nice Mega STE and found someone selling VME ISA adapters for graphics cards. What I've noticed is with this sort of setup there seems to be 3 choices for card, either an ET4000, or ATI Mach32 or Mach64. I can find either the ET4000 or the Mach32 easily enough. But which one work...

Everyone knows where to get version 5 but I fancy NVDI version 3 instead, for reasons.

English language preferred, manual would be nice but not needed. Give us a shout.

Re: SC1224 / Philips CM 8833 MK I colour monitor problems

I'd swap the second 1224's LOPT into the first and see what happens. I'm no monitor expert, but there's always a few on amibay who are. Particularly of the Philips 8833/Commodore 1084.

Had the problem you're having with the first one before. Was LOPT on mine, but could also be other things.

Re: Biased eBay guide

Well, it is true, the Amiga is a more capable machine in most respects. I'd give it the edge on being easier to put more memory in and a nicer keyboard. Both the ST and Amiga are still fairly crude machines, though. So if you're willing to mess with them in 2016, neither machine's flaws should put y...
