Re: LCD TV with Atari ST connected via SCART

+1 on Samsung TVs, all my STs worked fine in mono, colour, SCART, RF, and have never looked better than through my Sammy HDTV with the benefit that the image processing acts as a flicker fixer. I preferred CRTs till I got it, now I am finally sold on LCDs, only 10+ years after they were introduced :...

Re: 260 ST on E-Bay

I doubt it will make anywhere near that amount unless the seller gets lucky! One sold on eBay UK recently for £75 and you see them on the German eBay site for a lot less too. I think if these early models had different hardware inside, it would be worth a lot more, but it's just the ST we all know a...

Re: 520ST / 520STM

Ah it was easy enough using 2 x 27c256 EPROMs... It's probably very simplistic to most, but here was my method on a 6 chip TOS ST for anyone interested : 1. Dissect the 16kb 'tosload' file, 8-bit bytewise into tos.lo / tos.hi files - I used Winhex to do this. 2. Duplicate the resulting 8k files into...

Re: Is there anything lacking from Atari websites?

I think Atari websites are missing a message board, or 'Forum' as they are sometimes known. I've even thought of a catchy title

web-based-discussion-group-for-owners-and-admirers-of-atari-computing-devices.com

I'm gonna set it up make myself Administrator. No, wait! junior Administrator.

Atari Falcons - are they worth what they go for?

I've always wanted one, but they ain't cheap!

Just how good are they, any common failure points? And what would be a 'good' price?

Nice... Amiga 1200 on it's own go for double that. As I said on another thread it's always the collection only's that bag the best stuff :-D My personal best haul was : 3 x Spectrum 48k, 2 x Spectrum +2, Compaq portable, Mac Colour Classic, STE (4MB, Dual TOS), STF, Megafile, Toshiba laptop, for 27 ...

Final price : 10.50. Stupidly cheap!

So come on, own up - who's the lucky so-and so that won this? I'll be f$%$in' fuming if no-one from here got it- I'd have loved this lot.

Re: Another 'what psu does this floppy drive need'

This looks very much like one I have, I believe mine is from Germany. I'm puzzled about it too. Do you know what brand it is? The sticker on mine has faded away.

In my (quick) testing, 5v didn't seem to be enough, although I was using a fairly low milliamp adaptor.

Re: wanted: atari 520/1040 ste preferably with 4mb

Hate to say it but eBay is definitely the best place to get one cheap, especially if it's collection only... Enthusiasts are less likely to let them go for the same as eBay seller clearing their garage of junk. They really aren't sought after so there's no need to pay a lot.Plus you can pick up 30 p...

Re: Atari Slipmats on Ebay

I still own lots of vinyl - when I was young and poor, it was far cheaper than buying CDs, so my collection unintentionally ended up being a mish-mash of obscure 70s/80s stuff that none of my friends listen to. Since then many of them are more in vogue, but back then I was roundly mocked! The shop I...

Re: Atari ST music on BBC6 Radio

I'll check it out next time I'm in Manchester, I like going to the MOSI. I read that she was actually thinking of chucking it away... I'm glad she chose not to- particularly one with such a history. Years ago I found a yellowed 1040STE with SM124 & Protar Hard Disk dumped by a bin on Epping High...

Software remapping definitely worth trying but I'd still prefer the hardware solution if possible.

Can I use the keyboard ROM from an STe?

Interesting, thanks for the warning - I'd never even considered that!

I do have an EPROM burner, do dumps of the keyboard ROMs exist?

Wow... how awful to read this news... I did not know Alison personally in any sense, but I bought a couple of cables from her a few years back. We exchanged some e-mails there after, and I found her a very pleasant, witty individual. She gave me electronics advice, joked about, and even sent me some...

Wanted : UK ST/F/M/E Keyboard/caps

My STm arrived, all German and QWERTZlike.

Does anyone have a UK keyboard from ST/F/M/E, hopefully for cheap, so I can salvage the keycaps? Yellowing is not an issue.

Of course if anyone wants to do a trade for a set of lightly yellowed German keycaps, I may be able to help

Re: 520ST / 520STM

Really interesting replies! Will check the TNT FNIL demo later. So the question is, does anyone actually have/is anyone willing to dump these TOS loading ROMS? For curiosity as well as repair purposes - it seems a shame something so unique to the ST isn't available. I'd do it myself if I had the ROMs.

520ST / 520STM

Hello, On it's way is what I believe to be an STm. I certainly didn't buy it for collectibility/value as I know they're not worth much, it's just a nice one to own and will look good with my other STs :D Anyway, a few things I was wondering : Apart from the RF output, are there any actual motherboar...
