Re:

Never mind - I tried without and it works like a charm. I have connected the Falcon to my TV card now via composite. The quality is 2 times better than over the TV modulator into the card. It doesn't reach VGA of course but now I do not need to switch monitor cables but can launch a TV viewer on my...

Re: CT60e crashing at startup

Yes this seems to crash continually same spot right after SDRAM 512mb message, possibly it crash at memory test? What kind of memory does CT60e require? I use same 512MB memory from my old CT60, maybe this is problem? Memory requirements: http://powerphenix.com/ct60/english/sdram.htm When I set up ...

Re: CT60e crashing at startup

That is strange, looks like a software compatibility error, but you have not even booted yet....i would ReFlash the firmware as after that it will ask if you want to boot into TOS, Magic or Linux I haven’t tried that seems like a good idea to try, now would i reflash the jedec files or the bin/hex ...

Re: CT60e crashing at startup

Were you able to boot 030-mode and set (cpu/mem speed) options using CT60conf.cpx? Have you tried other ATX power supplies? Hi jvaltane, i was able to boot 030 mode but i cannot set cpu/mem config options using CY60conf.cpx. I also have not tried different ATX psu, this seems like good idea to try ...

Re: CT60e crashing at startup

Ok i performed several test with different Falcon motherboards and SDRAMs and different 68060 CPU’s all know to be working fine, and i am having same problem. I conclude this to be a Defective CT60e. Does anyone one have Willy’s email, so i can shoot him a email? Thanks much

Re: Dead Falcon - no boot / coloured screen only

If you changed the Combel i would look over the solder on the pins and make sure no bridges or solder blobs. Also make sure your Pin #1 is in the right position. I am guilty of doing both wrong.

Re: CT60e crashing at startup

Update : i ran the field diag util and there seems to be a problem at DSp port. This falcon had a problem with DSP port before. I am asuming this may be causing crash, i am pretty it is. I will swap falcon motherboards in the next few days and report here, until then i am open to taking your opinion...

CT60e crashing at startup (Solved)

Hi guys i just got my CT60e a few days ago. I plugged in the Processor and installed SDRAM and plugged it all in, right after the Atari display and CPU rev info And after the SDRAM 512mb message, the CPU crashes, i am asuming it is not reading TOS? Does the CT60e require to flash TOS in flashram?

In that case, then it does seems so. :( Sounds like it is toasted, i just fried both my ct60/ctpci not long ago, and was extremely bumbed. These are very delicate boards! We got to b...

Re: Dead Falcon - no boot / coloured screen only

Well i finally go around the changing the Combel....... Sadly no change, same faulty screen appears :x Maybe you have been focusing on the wrong side of the board? After helping ppl with their falcons lately, I've noticed that noone bothers to check the underside, there's lot's of smd resistors, ca...

Looks like your CPU is not strobing address’s. I would make this my starting point. Check clock signals going go the CPU, i would trace the clock rail and make sure there is a clock signal present.

Re: Dead Falcon - no boot / coloured screen only

Did you check for any physical damage? Probably small, possibly from a desk drop/tumble. Broken solder points? Check with a magnifying glass, 10x or better. rarely do falcon chips go bad. Possible but unlikely. Your symptoms suggest something physical, in my very small opinion. Perhaps do the 'bake...

This is ok, DAC is known to get hot! So rule that out.
