Re: Magnum TTRAM 256MB boards for the TT 030

For what it's worth, mine just wasn't stable in any configuration I could find. So I'm back with my old Atari 16MB board. My requirements probably go beyond those of most other people though, so I wouldn't be surprised if it's simply an inherrent issue with the design of the Magnum. Reproducing the ...

Re: Magnum TTRAM 256MB boards for the TT 030

The markings on what I believe to be the RTC / NVRAM chip are: MC146818AP 4A46D QLCX9109 I found a Falcon related page referencing a keystroke that will clear the NVRAM: http://www.atarimusic.net/index.php/featured-articles/falcon-hardware/108-atari-falcon-nvram-house-of-horrors-how-to-replace-your-...

Re: Magnum TTRAM 256MB boards for the TT 030

Ok, I'll have to try that tonight and report back.

What's "the cart?" A debug cartridge?

Re: Magnum TTRAM 256MB boards for the TT 030

I've replaced the battery in the past and the machine was off when doing so. Are you saying that in order to clear the NVRAM it's necessary to short a certain pin on the motherboard? What revision is your mainboard? Mine is a rev H. I'm not sure if it should be capable of running at 0ws or not. In o...

Re: Magnum TTRAM 256MB boards for the TT 030

Ok, 256MB just turned out to be unstable. So I removed the small plastic bits I had inserted into the SIMM slots, swapped the SIMMs between the two slots, and set the jumpers back to 128MB. Now I've been running without a freeze for over a day under memory stress testing. Previously I was able to go...

Re: Magnum TTRAM 256MB boards for the TT 030

There's not much to see... the little piece of anti-static plastic is so small you will just hardly see it. I may still have issues though. I did some exhaustive memory testing last night and hit a lock up after many successful tests. It's possible that I would see the same thing even with my old me...

Re: Magnum TTRAM 256MB boards for the TT 030

Ok, things seem to be stable at 1ws.

I'd be curious to hear if anyone is operating at 0ws without any issues. Without removing any parts, it's not obvious where the 68030 lives exactly -- on a daughter board or otherwise. I wonder if it could be the RAM, not the TT itself.

Re: Magnum TTRAM 256MB boards for the TT 030

Ack, looks like I spoke a little too soon. I'm getting system instability. Bumping the board down to 1 wait state to see if it goes away.

Re: Magnum TTRAM 256MB boards for the TT 030

I did it, I'm up and running with 256MB. Without harming my Magnum. =) You need to just cover pin #68 (Presence Detect 2 shown in the diagram linked below) on the SIMMs. To do so, what I did was cut two little slivers of plastic from a silver anti-static bag. I folded the pieces in half and stuck th...

Re: Magnum TTRAM 256MB boards for the TT 030

Ahh, circuit diagrams and jedec files are here:
http://www.uweschneider.de/Download.php?lang=en

I can't read that though... can anyone translate that to identify which resistor would be the one to snip off?

Re: Magnum TTRAM 256MB boards for the TT 030

That's no problem -- why would anyone want less RAM? :-)

Which resistor specifically is it? I bet I could just clip one lead which would make it somewhat possible for me to re-attach if I screw it up. I'm still more inclined to try some different RAM first though.

Ahh, found a super informative thread: http://compgroups.net/comp.sys.atari.st/TT030-memory-board-from-Niels-Trettin I posted something in German a while ago here http://atari-home.de/forum/index.php?board=3;action=display;threadid=906;start=0 I talked to Uwe Schneider (the developer) about the prob...

Re: Magnum TTRAM 256MB boards for the TT 030

Just got my board! Unfortunately I've got the exact same issue as majere. With the PD1x and PD0x jumpers un-set, I get 64MB total. With them set I get 128MB total (reported with the strange number on boot, verified to be 128MB total in the OS). I went with these: http://www.memoryx.net/32mbx326e.htm...

Any comment on that memory? Don't worry, I won't blame you if it doesn't work. =) But I would like to maximize my chances of getting set up with a good config if at all possible.

Re: Magnum TTRAM 256MB boards for the TT 030

Whoa, so I just bought that board on eBay the other day for use in my TT. I went off searching for info on the RAM I'll need and found the bizarre thread starting almost a decade ago and running right up until yesterday's purchase. =) So you actually _made_ this board back in 2003 ?! Cool!! Here are...
