Re: Gemdos error handling with Steem3.2

here is the first test, the palette is not good. After adding low resolution at medium resolution, he tripled the decoding time of medium resolution images. (I may be able to separate them) It is not good to use the file size specified in the BMP header because it is not always correct and can caus...

Re: Gemdos error handling with Steem3.2

After the first -64 error returned by Fseek (Gemdos $42), sometimes Fread (gemdos $3F) returns 0 in D0, but the loaded bytes do not match what is requested. And without reset, nothing good Well, I'm giving up this loading mode which will be slow for this file. Also, I do not know how to use the Fse...

Re: Game coding

MrPixel was here asking questions about coding but was ridiculed by lots of Atari users instead. The problem was he was asking non-Atari system coding questions.... in the chat and non-Atari system section of the forum. Seems legitimate and OK to do so as there is such sections.... but seems not so...

Re: Creating sound

If yo uwant to do music, it is easier to use a suitable tracker and create a SNDH music file. These can be replayed with GFABASIC without having to program individual SOUND and WAVE statements. I have a question for you, how do you call a asm program in gfa, and does the program have to contain cod...

Re: Devpac 3 - Where to start?

the problem with MrPixel was he asked about a lot of different systems, what people here don't know much about, so if it is MrPixel, then he is a least now talk about the ST. but i also have to give you, he have a very long way to go, if he don't know the answer to the about questions, but again we ...

Re: Anyone to convert a Z80 music player?

So for anyone that cares: I just finished a 2nd pass at the source code, tidying up things and taking care of loose ends. Which in practice means: a) It's now ready for debugging (so far I've been writing code at blind, so tons of bugs expected!) b) It is most certainly not optimal! For now it's si...

Re: Anyone to convert a Z80 music player?

My format (AKY) treats the whole music, not as a "dumb" YM list, but as small sequences of notes. Since I created the tracker, it is easy for me to split the sound stream into smaller streams. There is no "packaging" like LZ, only a smart (I hope) organization of data. So the co...

Re: Anyone to convert a Z80 music player?

Also, do you think the AKY format can have a use on ST, on a game/demo? I hope so. It's must better than YM in term of compression, but it's a bit slower of course, since data has to be decoded. when you say YM format do you mean leonard's STSound YM files, and if yes how do you compress the file, ...

Re: Looking for YM Format FULL documentation

The YM format is known for not capturing sampled data correctly as it samples the registers at 50Hz, too slow for true digi sample replay. Otherwise IMHO these are the most complrte descriptions I have seen sofar, esp. the one by skeezix. I doubt there are documents going even deeper. If you find t...

Thank you guys. Right after I posted this, I found the source code for StSound. That's as good as it gets I'm afraid.
