Re: Handheld MiST?

The tough part is condensing the board into something much smaller and less power consuming. That's where specialist knowledge is needed.

Re: Handheld MiST?

The controls are the limiting factor here. Clearly not all cores or games would be suitable for portable use - you can forget flight simulators or using GEM / Workbench / etc. However if you integrated a regular SNES / Megadrive type controller along with some control buttons for the MIST, you would...

Handheld MiST?

Just floating the idea - how feasible would it be to condense the MiST into a handheld form factor complete with a battery, screen and integrated controller?

Where can i get an 060 and 030 compatible version of xaaes.xm? And also mint060.prg?

Yes, you're probably right. Everything you need to run mint on all supported architectures is supplied in the Freemint package.

What version of Mint are you running? Versions before 1.18 require you to also swap the xaaes.xm for the 060 version.

I seem to remember Outrun coming with an audio cassette taken from the arcade machine and Batman the Movie had a poster. Will take a look next time I get the opportunity.

Yes there's a problem. All data is ok - it's something to do with the presentation layer. I'm trying to find some time to sit down and look at it properly.

Re: Need help with PAK 68/2

When I installed the SST into my MegaST, the documentation stated that the buffer mod needed to be removed and the broken track under the CPU repaired. You may also need to do this for the PAK.

Re: Serial port

It seems like you will need two files per port for this to work well - one for input, the other for output. How does Hatari handle port redirection?

I have also noticed this problem sporadically. I think Joska may well be onto something.

I would say that #1 is already covered by PASTI, KF and SCP and preserves the original floppies in a digital form. For the casual gamer, #2 every time (especially with trainers!)

Re: Is there anything new?

There are murmurs of something happening around the Apollo core, but nothing official as of yet.
In the meantime, you might want to take a look at chicane's port of Pole Position to the ST and there was something about Worms being written for the Falcon too.

Yes - please upload a photo. These disks could be of great importance - there is a library of Atari internal documents and files, so anything that can contribute to that would be quite something!

@AtariZoll: please keep off this thread. You are clearly not interested in the forensic analysis of floppy disks for the purposes of accurate flux-level floppy disk preservation and that's fine. Please stick to your nefarious software preservation which is your area of expertise. Bottom line, everyo...

Out of curiosity, I thought I'd search the Amiga databases for these.
There is an entry for Jack The Ripper (unreleased). It's not listed as UDS but was scheduled for release in 1994 (maybe a coincidence?):

Re: Modifying Gaming Controllers

Yes - good luck. I suspect the connectors on the ST will be the source of all your problems. Those solder joints suffer a lot of punishment with plugging/unplugging controllers. One point of reference (and this will make perfect sense later). The Atari ST keyboard has small silicone dome-shaped cont...

Re: Modifying Gaming Controllers

This page has a nice diagram: http://old.pinouts.ru/Inputs/JoystickAtari2600_pinout.shtml The ST uses exactly the same pinout as the standard 2600 controller. Paddles aren't supported in the ST, so you just need to worry about switching the signal lines to GND. Should be enough to get that controlle...
