Yes that's what i noticed too. The unified palette is just overbig. the palette must only concern the actual level + enemies.

same way, each boss is always alone on screen, only the horrible slug has some minions, but those are in the palette :)

seriously, first, you must service them before using them. If the PSU have not been recapped, do it. same for the motherboards.

If you still have any problem, then the capacitors will be ruled out.

Well Anima, some sprites like Arthur whole frame set must be in ram at any time. But for each level specific, you only load the sprites required.

i checked the saturn version, but it seems that they used a compression..... so no cigar....

Or do as dlfrsilver suggests, and split the graphics data into the individual levels to load in only what you need at that point. Yes, that's the only way to get it work on the Atari STE. The main problem here is to find out which sprites are related to a certain level and which are not. Also there...

yes the STE can do it :) Strider CPS1 should even work with only 2mb of ram ! It has to be noted that the CPS1 version needs 16mb of ram in emulation on a PC. 8mb of VRAM in fact, but since it's doubled for double buffering, you add 8mb of ram more, so 16mb.
