Re: Best Falcon 030 demos?

Most liked Falcon demos on puet.net is good starting point: http://www.pouet.net/prodlist.php?platform%5B0%5D=Atari+Falcon+030&order=thumbup The only problem is that there is a lot of demos. :-) If you have any favourite demos that really kick the Amiga scene of the table, I would like to know ...

Re: Falcon NO display after NVRam replacement

I'm sorry if I for some reason upset you. I have purchased components for at least a couple thousand dollars from Digi-Key, Mouser and Elfa (Maxim brand included) so I don't feel bad about ordering a few free samples at rare occasions.

I filled out a form on their website. You may want to use a non-gmail e-mail address as I've heard that they may deny your request if a gmail, hotmail or similar e-mail address is used.

Re: MagiC English patch

I remember having the same problem many years ago when I brought my Falcon030 out of the closet and configured it with a new CF drive.
I have a vague memory of having to install NVDI 5 first, but don't take my word for it. It's been a while...

Re: Falcon NO display after NVRam replacement

The company who now makes new Dallas chips : Maxim will send you some FREE brand new samples if you inquire on their website. How do I know this. Because I have some here. Someone on this forum said that they gave free samples. I didn't believe it and I was shocked after a few days two (of each typ...

Re: Modern OS-es, pros and contras, experiences with ..

I've had a PC ever since Windows 98 was released. In general I've been very happy with it. A wealth of software and hardware with well supported drivers is the main reason I'm still on Windows I guess. I've stayed away from some of the Windows releases such as Vista and 8.x. Since a year ago I'm now...

Re: Going into demo creation in 2017?

Yes! Go for it! If you ask me there is only one language if you want to program the Atari, and that's assembly language. Why? - If you program in Basic or any other high level language you can just as well do it on a PC. The level of abstraction is so high that hardly anything is specific to the Ata...

Or buy one of these:

That's what I'm using in both my Falcons.

I also have data coruption on CF card inside me Falcon connected with short film-thim IDE cable. How I can shield IDE cable?! There are tape available (copper, aluminium) with conductive adhesive. Re: Falcon NO display after NVRam replacement

Don't use CF cards, they more do not than do work. Can't say I know much about whether or not CF cards are problematic with the Falcon030, but I have dual CF card adapters (2 cards in each) in both my Falcons and I've never experienced a single problem during 4 years. Tried various Sandisk cards an...

Re: Falcon NO display after NVRam replacement

The VCC pin is pin 24 of the Dallas chip. The piggy back IC is a clock buffer patch. You can verify that it is properly wired/installed on Exxos page: https://www.exxoshost.co.uk/atari/last/falcpatch/index.htm The installation looks a bit shaky on the picture. Whether or not the loose wire has damag...

Re: Falcon NO display after NVRam replacement

Have you soldered a socket in place and popped the NVRAM back again? I read that you had removed it after initial testing? I don't think the Falcon will boot with the NVRAM chip removed. Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong. When you solder the socket in place, make sure the solder flows well. It...
