Re: What printer lead for MSTE?...

This would normally be marketed as an "IBM to Parallel Printer cable" right? I mean, the ST is pin-compatible with the IBM of the era, right? How about the Amiga? I seem to recall that using an Amiga printer cable could damage some chips in the Atari. Was this the case with the original A1...

Re: Why didn't Atari ST take off in the USA?

I think that Ataris marketing policy was driven directly by JT. And what worked for the C64 did not work for the ST. By this time the market had moved on. JT policy was to use price, build big user base by word of mouth and then critical mass. The market started changing too fast. What worked with ...

Re: Why didn't Atari ST take off in the USA?

Seems hard to believe that they did not take off in the USA, as both Antic and Analog mag split into 8bit /ST format for some time before closing the 8 bit side off and carried on with the ST cover, still remember being real pead off when they stopped their 8Bit mags in favour of only the ST even t...

Re: How much RAM on your STe?

It seems easier to find 4mb machines nowadays - the two I picked up in 2007 and 2008 were 4mb STEs. One has a broken reset button and the other, a broken disk drive :D They shall be healed when I re-enter the real world... Hah, wish I could have done the same! I'm in the bottom 6% of this poll!!!! ...

Re: Why didn't Atari ST take off in the USA?

As has been alluded to, the PC platform took off. That was inevitable, but that does NOT mean that before the "clones" became as cheap, plentiful and improved [THIS IS A RELATIVE TERM - RELATIVE TO WHAT THEY USED TO BE, THOUGH NOT IDEAL] that the "home computer market" wasn't sti...

Re: st ,stfm ram 4mb upgrade boards

Hey, any word on whether or not this will fit into 520ST/520STm? These are the "little ST" models with no disk drive built in, and the external power supply. They need the upgrade more than anything!

I take it this is designed for 520STfm/1040STf/1040STfm?

Thanks.

Re: GFA Basic Manual

I don't suppose there's a way to convert .hyp ST file to PDF to view on the Pee Cee? It'd be nice to view the manual on the Pee Cee while fooling with BASIC on the ST. I "Googled" to no avail, so I'm guessing "no."

But thanks for providing the .hyp though!

Thanks! I'll definitely be watching it. How close to $100 do you think it'll get? It ended at $65.00. Did you get it? The same seller has listed another one today, that looks nice - and has a "Tweety Board" which may not be worth much in of itself. http://cgi.ebay.com/ATARI-1040STF-COMPUT...

Re: Wanting to trade ST systems (USA based)

I believe over in the US, it is known as a EIA Multiport. I'm not too 'up' on connectors available on modern US TV's, maybe some others on here may be able to help further? You could use the RF output on the ST and 'tune' your TV in to it (use the auto search feature on your TV) Modern US TVs have ...

Re: MEMORY IN ATARI FAQ..!

Ok, now I am really confused. I just got my FIRST STe (1040STe) several days ago. I have not opened it yet, as I was hoping to get the 4MB and open it once, rather than once to look, then again to install SIMMS, or leave it apart. I ran Sysinfo and got this: http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5141/56151...

I keep looking for a deal on a system. But they always skyrocket in price right at the end. If you get a line on a good one, please let me know. Also, that would leave me selling all of this stuff. I really only want one good working system. Not to collect a bunch of systems. I know you don't belie...

Re: Re-launch of the C64 (for real or ??)

I'm not an Amiga enthusiast, but I can tell that if I were, I'd not care too much for calling some damned PC cases "Amiga 1000" "Amiga 2000" or "Amiga 3000." If I were a Commodore enthusiast, the "Commodore 64" netbook-powered thing would be interesting, but n...

Re: Wanting to trade ST systems (USA based)

Perhaps you should just buy another SC1224 color monitor from Ebay. I just bought another spare (my own preferred JVC-made early model) for $50 (shipped) for a nice one. If you're not particular about which model (of the three SC1224 sold here, yours pictured is a Goldstar) then you're much less-cho...
