Re: Coming soon! Steem SSE 3.5

Thank you ! This bug is really really nasty as it triggers only under special conditions, and the system crash (bombs) exactly as if it was a bug in the running program, but it is really a steam bug. What the steem developper did was test the last four bits of the instruction code, then assume it is...

Re: Coming soon! Steem SSE 3.5

Hi Steven. I saw in your last commit that you did not merge my bugfix (http://www.atari-forum.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=23696) Please merge it in Steem SSE. It is a very quick patch, and is very unlikely to break anything in demos or games, since it only occurs when extended resolution is activate...

Re: Hatari, Falcon and Adebug

Well since you're asking: I really need emulator detection, and this is not to circumvent a bug, or limitation in Atari/Steem, etc. I am developping the software manager for the hxc floppy manager. It is basically a floppy drive emulator. Since the HxC hardware is not emulated under Steem/Hatari, my...

Re: Hatari, Falcon and Adebug

Thank you very, VERY much ! Enabling the new winUAE emulation layer solved my problems. I was thinking that to switch the emulation engine, you just have to tick the "Slower but more compatible CPU" in the options. I was wrong. I just build Hatari on cygwin, with my patch http://www.atari-...

Hatari, Falcon and Adebug

I am trying to run Adebug under Hatari 1.6.2. It works when I emulate an Atari STe, but when I emulate a Falcon (tos404), it crashes at launch with 11 bombs. Anybody had more luck ? I tried not to to uncheck "patch Timer D, Tos", no change. If I set the Cpu to 68040, Adebug crashes with 4 ...

Re: Where are Steem authors?

Yeah. Subversion is still the most used VCS. But is it also quickly decreasing. Also the poll asked for the Version Control SystemS (note the 's') that they use. Almost every coder I know still has to use Subversion, for legacy, or historical purpose. The poll does not represent the "prefered&q...

Re: Where are Steem authors?

Subversion is a very solid product, very widely supported. You won't encounter any bugs or limitations. It is just aging. You made your decision, knowing that there are alternatives. Other VCS offers things you won't miss, because you just won't know they exist. The most difficult thing to do is to ...

Re: Detecting running under Hatari

So, because a single retarted so-called coder said that, this feature should not be implemented ? Come on. It is an elegant, official, standard way to detect it. It has zero chance to break any program out there. Is is also very handly for coders while developping. But if it refused, that's not a bi...

Here is a small diff to enable Hatari detection via this (standart?) method. Note that Hatari has to be started with the --bios-intercept So it is suboptimal. diff -r 917e036ddf4e src/xbios.c --- a/src/xbios.c Tue Sep 04 17:23:26 2012 +0300 +++ b/src/xbios.c Wed Sep 05 00:02:00 2012 +0200 @@ -425,6 ...

Re: Devpac Follow trap

I just tested with MonST 3.10, and it definitely goes into TRAP on trace (ctrl-Z).
What version are you using ?

You may try adebug, it is vastly superior to Monst.

Other option is to use the Steem debugger (boiler version).

Re: Where are Steem authors?

Thank steven. This is a good suggestion, and will really be a step forward for steem. Anyway, I strongly, strongly suggest you not to use Subversion. It is plain old, incredibly slow* and unflexible. Please evaluate going to Git / Mercurial. Mercurial is probably way simpler that git, so migrating f...

I don't have older version of Steem < 3.2.

The 3.2 version also has a debug build, but you may have good reason to get specifically older version.

Re: removing standard library dependencies from gcc 4.3.x

Thank you for your article. It is the base I used to squash the HxC SDcard Floppy Emulator manager for atari ST from 188 KiB to 60 KiB. Your source actually don't work with standard ST (TOS < 4, 68000), so I had to rewrite some parts. I also included a snprintf replacement. See the sources there: ht...

Steem bug ! (extended resolutions, source included)

The glitch I encountered in my previous thread is definitely a bug. When any extended resolution (800x600x1 as example), running the following code will crash: move.w #$73,d0 lea rts(pc),a2 jsr (a2) move.w #7,-(a7) trap #1 addq.l #4,a7 clr.w -(a7) trap #1 rts: rts It doesn't crash if d0 is other val...

Re: steem bug ? (snapshot included)

This seems to be very related to the extended resolutions. I spotted a bug in my program that overflowed a word, so the write operation modified the values BEFORE the screen (probably into the ssp). Fixing that bug made the "steem bug" problem disappear. But Steem itself should *not* crash...
