Re: Current purchasable USB Keyboard to Mega STe options

Before getting too excited, this product only connects USB mice and joysticks to the ST NOT keyboards . The device understands USB and services the 9-pin digital ports or the 2 analogue inputs for the mouse. The ST is totally unaware of USB here. The device shown plugs into the joystick or mouse por...

Re: General GFA questions

Don't believe Charles. Spriteworks is not only a set of tools but provides lots and lots of routines to use from GFABASIC code. There is a large document describing the additional commands, each with a code snippet how to make use of the routines. It's just a matter of reading the docs and calling t...

Re: ray's lz77 and lz78 packer

As a side note, those packers/depackers were never intended by Ray as the most effective packers. He did them to have a tradeoff in packed data size and depacking speed with a small depacking routine.

MIDI is not the main application for most of us. But it would be interesting to see a native driver for its special requirements.

No, your questions are (so far) mostly Atari ST related. MrPixel always referred to non-Atari platforms.

Re: Raspberry Pi baremetal port?

Hatari with a dedicated reduced Linux base without fancy shells and extra GUIs would be cool to have. I don't see the point in investing into a truely on-the-hardware implementation. Esp. if this leads only to a clone without true Atari ST hardware capabilities. For a speedy clone, a fancy Aranym in...

Re: Creating sound

The machine code used must be PC-relative for use with GFABASIC. Otherwise you have various options to call it, CALL, C:, RCALL Supervisor is up to you, you can set it from the machine code but normally you would do beforehand from your GFA. Check http://paradize.atari.org/ for lots and lots of exam...

Re: Creating sound

If yo uwant to do music, it is easier to use a suitable tracker and create a SNDH music file. These can be replayed with GFABASIC without having to program individual SOUND and WAVE statements.

Re: STOS Coders - Atari ST, new Facebook group.

We also have a GFABASIC group at FB totally supplemental to the forum here. I don't see the problem...if you don't use Facebook, there is noone to force you to join its groups. That is totally up to the user. Let the users decide.

Re: Monochrome to color display

Modern monitors cannot cope the with Atari St color modes without additional fuzz. For Europeans, the easiest way is to acquire a SCART connector lead for the ST and use a SCART capable TV or monitor. One can use SCART->HDMI converter boxes but your mileage will vary. A direct solution for VGA monit...

Re: Menus - How to do selections with diffrent outcomes

a) You cannot assign values in the ON ... GOSUB statement, only evaluate variables. b) ON ... GOSUB only works with numerical variables, not strings. c) I wonder if your REPEAT statement is valid, the canonical form is REPEAT ... UNTIL without the LOOP, LOOP is only used with DO ... LOOP statements....

Re: New IDE For Dev' ?

AFAIK there is no custom made IDE for Atari ST crossdevelopment, only toolchains. I personally use Qt creator (thanks mfro for the suggestion), Vincent Riviere's crosscompiler toolchain and Hatari as a debugger. Hatari does not plug in so you cannot use the IDE to debug but otherwise it is a terrifi...

Re: Looking for YM Format FULL documentation

The YM format is known for not capturing sampled data correctly as it samples the registers at 50Hz, too slow for true digi sample replay. Otherwise IMHO these are the most complrte descriptions I have seen sofar, esp. the one by skeezix. I doubt there are documents going even deeper. If you find t...

Just to be sure: uiptool is not meant to run under MiNT. Yes but packing the stuffs for transfer was done under it. Regarding tar, the antique versions of tar available for MinT refused to pack directories for me. As I am not using any unixoid file systems, just plain old FAT, it might matter, it i...
