Re: AMIGA: MIST vs Pi3 vs Vampire/real Amiga (4000?)

Stop your childish war Atari vs Amiga. Ok? Don't look into this subforum if you don't like it. It's full of non-Atari topics and it's ok since nothing gets deleted. May be there are only couple topics are about Atari here. don't get me wrong, but my two cents is that forum is for ST/E Clones not am...

nope, the Panter was pure Atari hardware and the first Jaguar prototype was done by Sinclair (yep - ZX-81/Amstrad) team, and it seems was based on "Loki" project (also Spectrum)

yep, it could be done with IDE but we have to reckon with a loss 30~50% of CPU for disk management

Re: Weird idea for a possibly cool project. (IDE adapter with embedded wifi/NFS)

actually Falcon's SCSI is better 1) but IDE is faster 2). 1) better because it has DMA channel - therefore read/write operations can be done in the bacground, without CPU activity; 2) faster due to SCSI DMA is limited to max 1.8 ~ 2 MB/s and IDE is limited only by CPU/BUS speed Yes, DMA is nice thi...

Re: GEMDOS - BSS segment

Does it mean there is only one "DATA" segment?
Devpac allows to use it more than once, e.g:

Code: Select all

SECTION      CODE
   add.l   D0,A0

SECTION      DATA
   dc.l 0,1,2,3

SECTION      CODE
   move.l   D0,A0

SECTION      DATA
   dc.w 0,1,2,3

GEMDOS - BSS segment

I use BSS segment to save some space in executable file. Till now I put it at the end of my code. But now I'm wondering if it would be possible to place BSS segment in the middle of the code. My code generate a huge chunk of a new code and BSS segment allows me to save executable file space. e.g. SE...

Re: Weird idea for a possibly cool project. (IDE adapter with embedded wifi/NFS)

Yeah, I was thinking the CosmosEX should be able to do something like that, just wasn't sure if it could. But doesn't it allow SMB filesystems, vs it acting like a hard drive transparently to the system, but the data is mounted from elsewhere? yes, it does :) It's one of the main CosmosEx feature. ...

actually this exactly what CosmosEx does - uses WiFI and ACSI DMA for RAW,GEM, SMB file systems
