Re: Timer B + DMA at once

In the Falcon, the DMA chip also takes care of backwards-compatible sound DMA. It does in fact use bus arbitration and can thus block the CPU from accessing the bus. Christian, yet once again you have shown how greatly you understand hardware schematics, even for devices which you have never used. ...

I keep my finger crossed for resolving positively that issue with both platforms.

I have mounted my Cosmo inside Mega STE. It is easy due to MSTE has internal ACSI slot.

Re: CosmosEx v1/v2 - Update

Jookie image "stretch_2019-07-24.img" works fine on both CosmosEx v1 and v2. They are are online (I have an access via web browser), translated drive is visible from ST
There is one thing, they have different "Status":

Re: 68080 Apollo Core

and what about porting Mist cores to FireBe but as 'addon'?
I mean, to allow to run cores in parallel with ColdFire processor, in GEM window.
Maybe would be worth to create kickstarter or a bounty project.

Re: 68080 Apollo Core

but games? which games do you mean? There are a few games that open borders like e.g. obsession pinball. Imho also Lethal Xcess and/or Canon Fodder. Also all games/cracktros using spectrum 512 images need a cycle exact cpu to display properly. good to know, thanks there are a lot of great games wit...

Re: 68080 Apollo Core

But then, we shouldn't be blind to see what it really is: an Amiga. I'm not (and never was) in the epic Atari vs Amiga wars, but people should realise that the Apollo/Vampire running TOS they see right now on YT and elsewhere is an (admitted, very fast) Amiga running EmuTOS for Amiga. A (very impre...

Re: 68080 Apollo Core

That's one reason and the other one is that on the Amiga no such undocumented hardware tricks to open the borders were used/needed. Imho it doesn't matter why that is. But fact is that some of the best games and demos on the ST won't run on anything but a cycle exact hardware replica. yep demos usu...

Re: 68080 Apollo Core

It's true that the FireBee isn't fully Atari compatible. But it is not true that it is incompatible on the hardware register level. From the programmer's viewpoint, it has all registers (video, MFP, IDE, RTC, ...) you'll find on a Falcon except those that aren't implemented yet (e.g. SCSI, DSP). Ba...

Re: 68080 Apollo Core

FireBee can use Atari hardware, like mouse, keyboard for example. As for future; how can you declare a NO for FireBee? just to clarify, "can't have Atari compatible hardware" - by hardware I mean hardware registers. It means that applications (games/demos) which use direct access to the h...

both machines: - can run proper Atari GEM applications; - can be reprogrammed / FPGA; - can't run neither Atari games nor demos; - can't have Atari compatible hardware; - have massive price. in additional: - CPU fully compatible with Atari: Firebee no, Vampire yes; - Opensource: Firebee yes, Vampire...

Re: How to prefill 030 instruction cache?

what about using MMU and mark all ram as non-cacheable and only interrupt code area as cacheable?
maybe I'm wrong (sorry for my ignorance in that area), but I remember that DML did similar tricks, in case of marking screen area as non-cacheable
