Re: Very first computer

In 1982/83 I bought a discounted, closeout 800XL from a local Magic Mart. It was $99. Next paycheck I got a 1050 drive, followed by an offbrand RGB monitor with the video cable for it. I can still remember typing in all the programs from the manual (Lightning!) and magazines but not being able to sa...

Tempest is old school difficulty where sucking down coins was its job. If he releases it for Linux I will buy it. Trying to move away from needing Windows as much as possible

Re: The Obligatory 'Introduce Yourself Thread'...

Hi there, My names Allan (you probably couldn't guess). I believe my family had a 2600 when I was younger. Just got an ST (I think) from a charity shop. I don't physically have it yet (I will be collecting it soon) I am an absolute beginner. I din't have any cables, software or hardware yet. I reall...

I'd contact Frank Lucas about the Pak/2 kits.

The Pak/3 stuff is pretty much luck - if you can find someone selling any. :(

Re: Recommended accelerator options for ST

The HBS640 T36 is the fastest option if you can locate one. An ST version of the wicher is certainly possible, I suspect that's where Exxos want to go, with fastram a lot of the drawbacks of lacking cache is mitigated, but no, the amiga version wont work with atari. I'm assuming you mean fastest of...

Re: Recommended accelerator options for ST

Most Games will not work with a 020 or 030 CPU booster ... You need a 68000 to run Games and no TOS 2.06. Better is 1.04 (ST) or 1.62 (STE). I'd not totally disagree with that statement but I'd have to qualify it - using the adapted games from PPera or Dbug, you can run many of them on accelerators...

Re: Recommended accelerator options for ST

I’d like to play some old games at faster frames rates. What accelerators or hardware upgrades might you recommend? Well, I could get a ban for this replay, but to be honest if you want to play smoother, faster ST games ( sprite ones, not the vector ones ), the best option ( and much more cheaper t...

I thought it disabled the blitter on the Mega STe and you had to run something
like 5 wires to re-enable it? (or am I thinking of something else?)....

Did the problem with aftermarket accelerators ever get fixed? (Example,

The ACSI accessible card can be used with an UltraSatan IIRC. yep, but as I mentioned I'd like to copy ST data from any device (e.g laptop) into CosmosEx SD cart directly. I use Mtools with my kubuntu linux laptop here to directly share data with the 2 gig SD cards I use with the Ultrasatan in my S...

Re: CosmosEX v2 SCSI MegaSTE HELP!

Alan had a page at one time where he sold them. You might PM him for more
information.

The Lotharek one looks different than the one I have in my STacy. Alan's has
a power lead that hooks to the Ultrasatan, powering it as well.

Here is a picture of mine:

Re: Utilize more than 1GB from SD Card UltraSatan

I've never hooked an Ultrasatan up to any of my Mega STe's. However, as far as I know, the internal connector is the same between the STacy and the Mega STe. Noting that, I *had* to have Alan's internal Mega STe adapter to use with my Ultrasatan when I installed it in my STacy. Not saying you can't ...

TOS v1.04 on my Mega ST along with HDDriver allows me to use a 4 gig SCSI hard drive here with no problems. Eight 512 meg hard drive partitions, including the C drive, running since the mid '90's for my BBS. No problems. My conclusion would be that if there is a limit, it's in the Mega STe's hard dr...

Agree with Wong. I find the MiST sections covering anything besides Atari to be...pointless (here). Honestly, I don't really even give the Atari related MiST sections more than a passing glance (not into emulation), although I can understand some people might. I mean why, on an Atari website, should...
