Re: For Sale via eBay - PAK68/3 50MHz

That's probably what it is then. When I got my Pak board , it was in sad, sad shape. Most of the chips were missing and the ones that were there were not the latest versions. There was also pin damage on the underside. Holger, once I contacted him, was kind enough to create the files for me to burn ...

Re: For Sale via eBay - PAK68/3 50MHz

Was watching this auction out of curiosity. For anyone interested, the item went for 280 pounds, or 348.78 US dollars. Not too shabby. Also, thought it was interesting that the info screen for this Pak was slightly different than mine. I'm not sure if mine is different because Holger Zimmerman added...

This might seem like a strange question but have you ever thought about
just buying the US ROMs new from a creditable source? Just curious...

Re: PAK68/3 and Netusbee (rom port access)

I would try to contact Holger Zimmerman. He posts here occasionally under the name "pakman", IIRC. He was directly involved with this hardware back in the day and the man is brilliant. When I started installing my Pak 68/3 into my STacy, he helped me a great deal, even making and sending a...

Agreed. I'd imagine the bus speeds are quite a bit better overall as well. What about TOS
v 3.xx being 32 bit - does that make a difference also?

Interesting. My Pak 68/3 equpped STacy handily beats a stock TT's
benchmarks.

Why couldn't an enhanced/modified Mega STe using some of the
new accelerators coming out do the same?

Re: Animated gif player/software

Just to verify MM41's post above - Mplayer STe will indeed play animated
GIfs. Here is a short (and amateurish) video showing my Pak 68/3 equipped
STacy playing a couple of GIFs. This is at 40mhz with the output to a color
LCD.

Re: CosmosEX installation into MegaST as floppy replacement

I'm assuming you're going to have to alter the front of the case where the Mega's
floppy normally resides?

I had to alter my STacy's case when I put a 1.44 meg floppy in. Take your time
and be patient when working on that old plastic. :)

Re: What model should I go for?

Okay, I just tried Phantasie 2 and 3 on my STacy and neither would work in mono. I got an error message saying they had to run in low res. Phantasie 1 does run in mono on my STacy just fine. Both 1 and 2 ran from the floppy, 3 had to auto-boot. My versions of 1 and 2 both had an owners manual in the...

Re: What model should I go for?

Nope, talking about the RPG:

Phantasie 1, 2 and 3...

BTW, was looking at my boxed sets. 1 actually says it
supports a mono display and 2 and 3 do not, but I've
not actually tried them yet. Oh, I can't find a version
number on 2, so I don't know if it's 1.0 or v2.0?

Re: program EPROM’s of TOS 1.04US for a STacy?

STacy's sure are fun to take apart, aren't they? :) Are you absolutely sure that your source files aren't corrupted? Have you burnt any other chips successfully with your setup? I had to program TOS v3.06 for my Pak 68/3 board in my STacy. I went through a round of really frustrating trial and error...

Wow. That list is still incredibly long.

I'm assuming that when you list a game with a specific country that you have
other versions of that game? For example, if the listing ends in "France", you
don't want a USA version?

Thanks.
