Re: Modem midi - how to set up in Cubase and Notator?

Could i use a Midex to test this modem midi? So to answer simply, yes. You can do a couple of things, going back to your question 'how to I get I MIDI signal when I press a key on my keyboard using a modem MIDI interface', whichever one you use. Just so happens, this weekend, after a move, my Atari...

Re: Modem midi - how to set up in Cubase and Notator?

Either extra MIDI ins or extra MIDI thrus I would personally go for a MIDI thru or MIDI merge box. Only because I am a bit crap with DIY electronics, I have to be told in a paint by numbers manner  MIDI thru is by and large extra circuitry, but it is possible to make a MIDI out double up as a ...

Re: Modem midi - how to set up in Cubase and Notator?

Cool that's good! Good question actually, so this is where you will need a MIDI in. So you can sync sequences made on an external MIDI equipment with your MIDI out port using the Export driver. However to press a key on your keyboard and see the MIDI in event, you need an extra MIDI in to use the mo...

Re: Modem midi - how to set up in Cubase and Notator?

Hi, so if installed correctly, just renaming your chosen driver in the MROS folder from .DV to .DRV, then it should show in the Output dropdown. So in the image below, look on the left hand side and you have Instrument where you can name your instrument that is assigned to a certain output. The Outp...

Re: Modem midi - how to set up in Cubase and Notator?

Hi, have you installed the MROS Export driver? See AMN site, use the Download MROS link. Place the MROS folder, if you don't already have one, I am sure you do, in Cubase. If you do, just copy the Export driver to your Cubase MROS folder, and rename the extension DRV from DR to activate it. Reset fo...

Re: Modem midi - how to set up in Cubase and Notator?

Hi, for Cubase you should be able to use the Export driver, using Export 1 output. Never tried it the other way around, but Notator has it's 'MIDI add ons' built in, so potentially Notator should just pick it up, again seeing as an Export, but of course with the use of just one of the MIDI B, C or D...

Re: Android MIDI input from Atari

Hahah, yeah appreciated Charles! Certainly should be possible, so long as the connection can be made which it can. I imagine games that utilise MIDI used the MT-32 from Roland for their sounds, or maybe standard General MIDI (GM), GS or XG sounds, which were just a standard set of sounds found withi...

Re: Android MIDI input from Atari

The point would simply be an extra sound source, like anything that uses MIDI over USB, or to at least to be able to connect some devices that simply don't have MIDI DIN.

Re: Android MIDI input from Atari

Hi, never tried with android, but yes it is possible to attach any MIDI product to your Atari. So it is possible to convert MIDI over USB to MIDI DIN for connection with an Atari ST etc... You can buy USB to MIDI adapters, there are a lot of cheaper options which may work depending. I do this for a ...

Re: Replay Professional by Microdeal 1990 - need disk 1, download anywhere?

Unfortunately it is not, however it may be able to be used with Replay Professional, as it was 12-bit, and although Replay 16 was 16-bit, you can create 8, 12 and 16-bit samples, so worth giving it a go Chandler, even though it is not exactly what you are wanting. When I was looking around for sampl...

Re: YM music in Cubase?

I am almost certain that doesn't exist, hence why trackers are often used for using either samples or YM sounds. The nearest thing Cubase has is EPSS, and that's allowing the use of samples within Cubase, similar to what Breakthru had built in.

Re: Do Cubase 3 drivers work with Cubase Audio?

I love that sequencer, such a well-designed interface. Much easier than Cubase. The only reason I don't use it more often is because it can't support time signature changes. It also has no graphical controller editor. Breakthru is also the only sequencer I've tried which runs under MINT. Me too, it...

Re: Do Cubase 3 drivers work with Cubase Audio?

Yeah, I had a quick look last night, and if recall the MO4 was circa 94/95 and the SMP II circa '93 from what I could gather. To be honest, I find the MO4 a touch more solid than the SMP II, so in that respect it's a good device, it's a little less picky on account of the driver I would imagine, eve...

Re: Do Cubase 3 drivers work with Cubase Audio?

Hi Foxie, specific to the SoundPool MO4, this does work with the Atari ST, Cubase 3.1 for example and the MO_44 driver, as I have been using it with that combination for years. It does also work with the Falcon and CAF, as I am now using it with that combination, which is testified by SoundPool's we...

Re: Atari Box gets official name...

Yep still a mock up, soon not to be as the story goes. In some ways I agree, it will be a hard market, maybe too hard. In other ways I would like to see Atari make something more than what they have been doing for years. Are they relying on history, yes of course they are, but that's no different th...

Re: Sounfiler by Drumware

Wait, so will Genwave work with the S612? So I suggest Google. What I will say is, does the S612 use SDS (Sample Dump Standard), if so it can be used with any Sample Editor which conforms to SDS for sample dumping and editing. If not, as I imagine it is pre SDS, then your choices will be more limit...

Re: Do you use/need more than one MIDI input?

If I do include MIDI inputs, then how many inputs? I was thinking of two, because that requires little extra hardware. I could increase that to six by using an additional MCU. It seems a bit silly to go to that effort if I can't figure out how to support the inputs in Cubase! One option I have cons...

Re: Sounfiler by Drumware

Genwave is a sample editor that combined the previous versions, Genwave12 and Genwave16 offering editing capability by way of drivers for both 12-bit and 16-bit samplers, as well as MIDI SDS. This works with the S900, not sure about S950, but with SDS, I imagine at least sample dump.

That could come in handy. Always wanted an old hand scanner, I just this week got a cheap and perfect conditioned hand scanner. Don't need it, but thought it would be fun! Thanks for the software!
