Re: Atari and Music.

I find it interesting, of course I think the reality is you can carve these terms up in different ways, so indeed fully appreciate. Certaintly true as you say, there is a lot of overlap which is why you get grey areas, confusion or 'bones of contention'. However like you it seems, I have an affectio...

Re: Atari and Music.

Very interesting, and good blog about Notator HD, very cool. As touched on here, we should remember the time, there was technically no concept of a DAW at that time, although we were moving in that direction. By that I am also referring to the term, Its something you see pop up often where people ge...

Re: Hardware Overscan

I actually have OverScan installed on my STFM, have had it for years bought new from Compo (I think). It should be OK with Rainbow TOS, see below manual. You may need to check any soldering, just a thought? Or potentially anything else you have running on boot up and the boot order, it is not suppos...

Yeah, I am fortunate to have the Steinberg 16-Bit D/A. See link as there are not many good photos on the net. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1b0sSxAEpqLGCSqv5DZIOPw6m0KsNqJjM?usp=sharing Actually Mr Atarieterno, I have recently joined the Plasmec ADAS-ST club, I remember you are an owner.

Not so much software I imagine, if we are talking saving patches and kits, most Universal Librarians were for the ST range, they may happen to work with the Falcon but I doubt it as they were written before the Falcon was released. I have a Falcon but have to say, never tried. Librarians such as X-O...

Re: Atari STE and Korg Nanopad

Indeed, as alluded to here, you will need a USB MIDI to MIDI DIN convertor. There are a few on the market, however you will need one that can run without a PC (not all are like this), and your USB MIDI device has to be a class compliant MIDI device which the Korg Nanopad is.

Re: Upgrading serial port for higher speed / more midi stability

honestly having just read this thread i think there was alot of things said here that were said with little to no surety, ie: in assumption, to say that firmware can be shared between the SMP24 + and the SMP24/II i think that would be very much false... Actually this is not quite accurate, the Stei...

Re: Modem midi - how to set up in Cubase and Notator?

There is no new new solution by and large, so you just have to keep your eye out on the various selling websites, Amibay, eBay blah, blah. Try ST-Freakz (UK), they appear to have some stock.

Re: Zip-Drives and Atari ST

Yes indeed, as others have said, should be no problem to connect. When these things were new, I went with the Syquest alternatives, EZ135, EZFlyer and SyJet. For Falcon no issues other than driver, for ST you will need the addition of an ACSI to SCSI link such as Link, Link II, Toplink etc.... The s...

The other thing to me mindful which you may be aware of other than clock rate of 44.1KHz or 48KHz is bit rate. Originally FDIs were 16-bit compatible only, later versions could handle 24-bit.
