Updated ST Core?

Is anyone making plans to update the ST core using ijor's updated 68000 code? Will that increase compatibility to the point that timing accurate code (I'm really thinking demos here) will run, or does the other logic in the ST Core also need to be updated? Once my MiST can run The Cuddly Demo's, I'l...

Re: AMOS Pro 2.0 on the Minimig core?

I can't comment from a Mister point of view, as I don't have one. However I've used AMOS Pro several times on my MiST (set to be a 68020) and had no problems at all.

Does it work okay if you set the CPU to 68000?

Re: FX68K Cycle accurate 68000 core

I plan to port FX CAST (see http://atari-forum.com/viewtopic.php?f=117&t=34555&start=75) to the MiST. And, of course, MasterOfGizmo is more than welcome to use FX68K on his own ST core if he wants. But there is a trade off, TG68K might be better for STeroids mode. I don't want to derail thi...

Re: MiST FPGA display question by FPGA newbie

Most of the cores for MiST can work without the scan-doubler, so provide a 15KHz output via a VGA - SCART cable. Great if you're still using a CRT. Depending on the LCD screen you use, you may find a TV with a SCART input (I use my MiST on a 37" LG LCD TV). If SCART isn't available, then as men...

Re: Genesis / Megadrive core ported to MiST

The only thing I've found that completely fails so far is the Stuck Somewhere In Time demo. That reports that it's being run in an emulator, presumably due to checking CPU timings?

One word : Amazing

Thanks to all involved in producing this core.

IK+ for definite.

I was speaking to Archer Maclean about those games a couple of months ago, and even he'd admit that International Karate was awful.

I think the Pi Zero is similar in performance to my Pi 1 Model B if I overclock.

I tried running Hatari on that, and the frameskip needed to make things playable was just too high.

Re: James Pond - Millennium Interactive

Steve Bak was an ST first man. James pond was made for Atari ST first and enhanced for the Amiga. Are you sure about that? Is that the original James Pond specifically? I think James Pond II was written by Chris Sorrel, originally on the Amiga. The Chris Sorrel interview includes the quote "It...

Re: why use ASM anymore

... my question is this: is there a way to do assembly on an atari 800 through BASIC? (IT won't get an assembler and i'm too cheap to buy one)... That's how some 8-bit magazines did type in listings (definitely when I read Page 6). You'd have a few lines of basic, essentially a loop to read DATA st...

Re: The FPGA and non-Atari cores deserve the cover of this forum?

I'm one of those annoying MiST users, and I do like to read the FPGA discussions. I have, predictability I suppose, voted in favour of keeping the FPGA discussions visible. To be fair, I don't really pay that much attention to the recent discussions page, and when I go to the forum I usually go stra...

Re: Atari ST Core - Captain Blood compatible?

Just a thought - considering the age of the game, and subsequent cracks such as Automation, perhaps the 4MB memory is causing a problem? Unfortunately there's no 1MB configuration on the ST core.

Re: Atari ST Core - Captain Blood compatible?

Strange. The only image of Captain Blood I have is the Automation 77 version, and I get the same symptoms. I say strange, because I'm sure that I've had this working before. I'm certain I've played it and toggled through the CPU settings whilst it's running to see how much difference STEroids mode m...

I'd also like to add my thanks to Till, for getting the whole MiST project off the ground. It's been a fun thing to play with, and I still use mine fairly regularly. It's unfortunate that development on most cores appears to have stalled now, especially on the ST and Amiga cores, but I guess that's ...

Strange. I never had the issue with my real ST booting up, and my MiST "HDD" is a 100% image of my real ST drive.
Not a big deal, but mildly annoying.

Re: MiST / Atari ST core: random repeating phantom "key press"

I get this happening with the MiST configured as a regular 8MHz STE or FM. Booting to the desktop and waiting for 10 seconds is usually enough to trigger the keypresses.

I get exactly the same issue. I'm not sure whether it's only an issue in the latest version of the ST core, I'll try an earlier version and see what happens.

I always preferred the original Speedball compared to the sequel. Speedball 2 is full of gimmicks such as the multipliers, where as Speedball 1 has more of a "purity" to it.

Re: Best Starfields in Demos, or games?

There was a STOS extension purely for generating starfields. I think it was included on a ST Format coverdisk. Its results were actually quite impressive, and it allowed horizontal and vertical multi-level parallax starfields (as well as in between angles I think). From what I recall, it was only a ...

Re: ZX-Spectrum & SAM Coupe cores not working on TV via SCART RGB cable

I also have problems with the Spectrum core sometimes. I do get an image, but sometimes it suffers ghosting and noise over the picture. Other cores give a rock steady image. Power cycling the MiST sometimes resolves the issue (or can sometimes instead cause the issue). I raised this some time ago, a...

Going back a while now, but I used to own a Windows CE device, and I'm pretty sure I had reasonable success with an emulator called CaSTaway.
