Re: NEW IDE Controller & TOS 2.06 board (with extras)

thanks, this is great, been waiting for years for another 2.06/IDE board

depending on cost, I would like to order a bunch (3-4) of these for my live shows.

i will be watching this thread, but maybe its a good idea to setup a mailing list?

great work!

Re: YM VST

on real hardware you have to deal with the limited resolution of the YM frequency and MFP frequency registers. i was not able to emulate this in a satisfying way with ymVST.

anyway, i made it fixed to respond like a older YM tracker, for example SID Sound Designer

Re: satan disk?

very exciting news regarding ultrasatan! after issues with my friend grazey i don't check this forum any longer. however, i would of course like to buy the ultrasatan when it is ready. with the original satandisk in my opinion it was not that well publicised. maybe this can be resolved with an email...

this plug-in is really popular with its musicmon-alike GUI. many tracks on micromusic.net use it.

sorry, but there will never be a mac version ;)

already there is over 5 ide interfaces that work fine probably... but are these easily available for 'normal' guys to buy and install? no just one is - paksud - and this is not sticking to the atari IDE standard. with IDE i can have more than harddisk... for example CD-ROM. there is a vote on this ...

good point niceguy. in fact it depends if you do the operation on memory or registers. for word operations on registers, addx is a bit faster. i guess it depends very much on your application. in my case i use a different buffer for the scroll text from the screen, so i have a speed advantage to usi...

i really suggest to use assembler for YM programing. its much more versatile than any builtin sound libraries to be found in a BASIC interpreter. i'm sure if you wish to use assembly language, you'll get lots of support here :)

ozk, thanks alot for the infos about devpac menus, anyhow its only a small cosmetic problem, the other problem is more serious. i spent some time this weekend looking into the problem. in fact it occurs under mint wether i have writeback cache on or off in either 060 or 030 mode. i compared the two ...

an assembler normally produces an almost 1->1 mapping of code to bytes. the possible speed and size optimisations are rather few and simple, like move.l #1,d0 -> moveq #1,d0 for example.

its not like a c compiler which can remove redundant code etc etc etc

generates smaller code

this seems a rather dubious statement for an assembler.

in fact i find the latest xaaes really fine! it fixes almost all of my earlier problems, and it looks nice too with the new widgets. i especially like the thoughtful support for 4 colour mode. but you ask for some problems so: in devpac - the drop down menus are drawn over by the window status line ...
